Abdullah Miniawy reunites with Simo Cell on new album, ‘Dying Is The Internet’

Abdullah Miniawy has collaborated with Franco-Argentinian producer Simo Cell on ‘Dying Is The Internet’, a new album set for release on Dekmantel’s UFO imprint on March 12, centred on their shared reflections around digital fatigue and contemporary club culture.

The Egyptian singer, poet and composer returns to the partnership following their 2020 EP ‘Kill Me Or Negotiate’, expanding a creative dialogue that bridges experimental electronics, spoken word and forward-facing dance music. Abdullah Miniawy frames the project as “a playful prophecy about the triggers of a new global revolution,” positioning the record within a wider cultural and philosophical conversation.

For Simo Cell, the album’s title functions as a commentary on the online ecosystem, describing how the internet has “lost its soul,” becoming “less about sharing ideas and more about surviving in a digital business ecosystem.” The pair intentionally move against short-form consumption habits, shaping a body of work that unfolds gradually and privileges depth over immediacy.

Across the record, Abdullah Miniawy experiments with auto-tuned vocal textures while retaining his distinctive Arabic lyricism, navigating themes of repetition, memory and emotional endurance.

The eight-track album’s lead single, ‘Living Emojis’, has been shared; you can listen to the track below and pre-order the album here.
