Big Dope P drops new EP blending Chicago footwork, UK drill, Arabic scales and 90’s rave influences
Opening track ‘Zephyr’ makes its debut alongside the complete EP after five advance singles were released over recent months
Big Dope P has released a new six-track EP that brings together influences from Chicago footwork, UK drill, Arabic musical scales and '90s rave.
Born Thomas Bouznadi Lemer and of Tunisian heritage, the UK-based producer continues to explore high-tempo club music, with each track clocking in at 160 BPM. He gradually unveiled the EP over the past six months, releasing five of its tracks individually ahead of the full release. The opening cut, ‘Zephyr’, makes its debut as the EP’s only previously unheard track.
Alongside appearances from Chicago footwork pioneer Jana Rush and Section Boyz member Littlez, the record also features contributions from NaylahDMP, Smoke Boys, Annie S and MiaDMP.
Across the EP titled ‘Life Hits Hard But These Traxx Hit Harder’, rapid-fire drum programming, chopped vocal samples and shifting basslines are combined with influences drawn from Chicago juke, London's club and rap scenes, and Paris' dance music landscape.
