The UAE-based record label and party series Boogie Box is celebrating its 11th anniversary by throwing a party in Dubai.
Running on November 12 at Coda, it will feature Anthony Parasole, one of NYC's favorite underground trailblazers, as well as performances from Rudoh, Hassan Alwan, Ralph Nasr, Shellwell, Ricardo De Meneses and Hani J.
Anthony Parasole is known for his work on Ostgut Ton, Dekmantel, and his own label The Corner. He has recently made his debut on L.I.E.S. Records, with a 10-track album titled ‘HEADRUSH’ which the artists has released under his new alias, FULL EFX.
Performances will be spread across two stages. Featuring Anthony Parasole, the Main Room is supported by local talent and Jugaar label founder Rudoh, and Boogie Box’s Hassan Alwan. The Back Room sees debut appearances for Retrogroove co-founder Ralph Nasr and Iranian/Turkish DJ Shellwell, playing alongside residents Ricardo De Meneses and Hani J.
"We started Boogie Box back in 2010, when I had moved back to the UAE from London and Shadi Megallaa had moved back from Switzerland. We were both very active in the house and techno scene in Europe and our only objective was to set up a space for us to share our music and make people dance. I never ever thought that I would keep building and hosting Boogie Box for another 12 years!" said Boogie Box’s Hassan Alwan.
"When we first started Boogie Box, the house and techno scene and community was in its infancy. There was not much really happening besides a handful of parties. It makes me really happy to see our scene has developed into a vibrant and diverse landscape in the world of electronic music. And we are honoured to have played a major role in this."
"Really proud to be the longest running house and techno night in the UAE. Boogie Box has grown to be more than just a party. First and foremost, we are a community of like minded individuals who are after alternative music, spaces and shows. We also run a vinyl and digital label Boogie Box Records, and host our parties abroad in cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Tbilisi and beyond."
