Boshoco, Weam Ismail, Ghenwa Nemnom, Stranger Souma feature on new Alt Orient compilation, ‘Baba’s VA’
Out now, the 24-track release also includes music from DJ Phellix, Sant, Amir Sheykh, Abarra, Adam Husa and Halia
Levant-based record label Alt Orient has released a new VA compilation.
Spanning 24 tracks, the compilation titled ‘Baba’s VA’ features new music from a wide range of artists, most of whom are from the MENA region, including Boshoco, Weam Ismail, Ghenwa Nemnom, Stranger Souma, DJ Phellix, Sant, Amir Sheykh, Abarra, Adam Husa, Halia, Nukad, Ikaru and Emin Gok, among others.
The VA compilation, marking the 125th release on Alt Orient, has been curated by the label’s fictional anonymous robot character, the fez-wearing droid Baba Robot. ‘Baba’s VA’ is the label's sixth VA compilation since launching in 2016 to create a home for Eastern & African alternative electronic music. The label was previously operating as Souq Records till 2021.
