Dancing Family and Habibti Nation to team up for a party celebrating UK global sounds

Dancing Family has teamed up with Habibti Nation to throw a two-room party at Corsica Studios, taking place on February 24.

The evening will be headlined by Fiyahdred, Sarra Wild, iona and LUMA, with the two collectives uniting to celebrate the sibling-run Dancing Family label and platform.

It's a link-up which has been a long time coming; in 2021, DJ and Founder of Habibti Nation LUMA met Dancing Family's co-founders through Deptford's AAJA community radio, and now they've joined forces for the event which champions community, diversity, inclusion and fun.

“Habibti Nation aims to bridge the gap between UK Club music and Electronic music from SWANA (South-West Asia and North Africa) and the Arabic Speaking world, platforming womxn, non-binary and trans artists, LUMA tells Mixmag. "Growing up in SE London as an Arab British I never found a space that encompassed sounds of my mixed identity and longed to be in an environment where I could explore both sides of my heritage on the dance floor.

"Habibti Nation is a space that my 18-year-old self would have loved. I’ve been connected to Dancing Family for a few years and they are one of my favourite parties to play at and go to! So it felt like a match made in heaven to collaborate with them on my Corsica debut.”

“What I value most about going out is being surrounded by people that are there for the music and the joy that it brings," adds co-founder of Dancing Family Yohan. "When we first booked LUMA for a Dancing Family event we knew that she would be a part of the journey. Her sets always bring infectious energy and her selection is amazing! I’m so excited to be able to collaborate with her on this event and see our two worlds collide for the greater good.”

“When I first moved to London from Paris, Corsica Studios was my favourite club space," says Tatiana, also Dancing Family's co-founder, on the decision to host the party at Corsica. "It encompassed a new world of sound that I hadn’t yet experienced. One of my favourite memories was when me and Yohan (my brother and Dancing Family co-founder) danced so much in Room 2 that the DJ playing decided to adopt us his children for the night. It was at that moment that I knew that Corsica Studios would have a special place in my heart.”
