Dave Angel releases ‘Apocalypse’ ahead of forthcoming album ‘A Time And Place’
‘A Time And Place’ lands via R&S Records on September 18, with ‘Apocalypse’ serving as the second preview of the forthcoming LP
Dave Angel has released 'Apocalypse', the second single from his forthcoming album 'A Time And Place', which is set to arrive via Belgian label R&S Records on 18 September.
The track follows lead single 'Réflexion', featuring trumpeter Steve Waterman, and shifts the focus towards themes surrounding humanity, the planet and current events around the world. Built around a vocal sample referencing the movement of the Earth, Adam and Eve and the impact of life on human beings, 'Apocalypse' uses these ideas as a starting point for a broader reflection on the state of the world.
While 'Réflexion' introduced some of the jazz influences, personal experiences and human connections that inform 'A Time And Place', the new single takes a more contemplative approach to questions around humanity and the direction of society. The track reflects Angel's interest in using music as a space for observation, connecting personal perspectives with wider social concerns.
Across the forthcoming LP, Angel draws on musical influences and experiences accumulated throughout his career, extending beyond the electronic music with which he is primarily associated. The album features collaborations with house vocalist Robert Owens, guitarist Merv Carswell, Aurii Sky and trumpeter Steve Waterman.
