DJ GAWAD links up with James Massiah for new ‘Contact High’ EP
The four-track EP represents the first official collaboration between the pair
DJ GAWAD has collaborated with London poet and MC James Massiah on a new EP titled 'Contact High', a project that brings together James Massiah’s distinctive vocal delivery and DJ GAWAD’s sharp, club-ready production language.
The release sits at the intersection of jerk, trap and dancehall, moving fluidly between dancefloor-driven energy and everyday listening, and is framed as a left-of-centre rap project.
At its core, 'Contact High' leans heavily on DJ GAWAD’s tightly wound beats and instinctive sense of rhythm, placing the producer firmly at the heart of the record’s sound. The project brings underground rap energy into dialogue with production shaped by DJ logic, moving naturally between club spaces and day-to-day listening. It also signals the Jordanian producer's steadily growing footprint across London’s club-adjacent rap and electronic landscape.
The EP will be introduced with a launch party and live performance at Space Talk in London on Friday, 13 February, where the pair are set to bring 'Contact High' into a club environment that mirrors the EP’s core influences.
DJ GAWAD was also recently spotlighted by Mixmag as one of its “Five artists to check out” in December 2024. The 'Contact High' EP is out via Amman-based label Drowned By Locals.
