Fairplay drops new single, “Latlal”

Jordanian duo Fairplay, formed by Fuad Abu Jaber and Faisal Tadros, has released a new single entitled “Latlal” on Zatar Music, a new label from Berlin-based producer Phonique.

Fairplay’s new work is another fine example of their sound in which they expertly weave musical textures while bringing a contemporary perspective to nomadic-style music. Their music is distinguished by an eclectic, deep, and unexpected approach. Releasing on labels like Kindisch, Stil Vor Talent and Bar 25, the duo’s approach favours organic sounds, frequently focussing on the hallucinogenic and the obscure, to create deeply layered, spellbinding productions.

Faisal and Fuad met in their native Jordan before moving to study in the UK and the USA, then they started out promoting their Kollective Music parties, which welcomed electronic stars like Phonique, DJ T., Subb-An and Mihai Popoviciu. Buoyed by the success of these events they formed Fairplay and started DJing and producing together.

“Latlal” is a gorgeous, deep, melodic house cut inspired by their local heritage and featuring vocals from Sahrawi singer Mariem Hassan. On the remix duty, longtime collaborators Anturage and Alexey Union bring their own unique flavour to the track. Harnessing the uplifting power of Hassan’s vocal sample, they steadily build layers of percussion and synth lines, creating a crisp, progressive cut that patiently raises the tension.
