Amidst the ongoing Iranian uprisings against the government, one positive outcome is that the world is now paying attention to the music of Iranian artists. Among them, producers AIDA and Nesa Azadikhah (pictured) have curated a new electronic compilation album titled ‘WOMAN, LIFE, FREEDOM’ featuring 12 original electronic tracks from female Iranian artists, which was released past Friday through Apranik Records, established last year as a response to the protests.
It features a diverse collection of tracks spanning genres like electro, techno, breaks, ambient and experimental. Alongside contributions from the curators themselves, the album also features tracks from artists such as Meshcut, XEEN, Golbon Moltaji, Sharona Lico, SarrSew, KUCHULU, Mentrix, Roody, ROW92 and Kimia Koochakzadeh-Yazdi.
Not only does the compilation feature an array of electronic tracks from female Iranian artists, but it also supports a noble cause. All proceeds will be directed towards charities that assist women in Iran, the first of which focuses on providing aid to women and children recovering from domestic violence, homelessness, addiction and societal distress.
