Leticia van Riel, longtime co-manager of Sama’ Abdulhadi, dies following traffic accident
Sama’ Abdulhadi: “Rest in peace and power, my love. I am going to miss you a lot. You will always live in my heart, and in the music. Thank you for everything and for always being by my side”
Artist manager and LvR Management founder Leticia van Riel has died following a car accident in Ibiza.
Widely respected across the global electronic music industry, van Riel spent more than 15 years working in artist management, agency representation and career development. She was best known for her long-standing work with Sama' Abdulhadi, whom she co-managed for the past seven years, while also playing a key role in the international careers of Brazilian artists ANNA, Wehbba and Victor Ruiz. Throughout her career, she earned a reputation for championing long-term artist development and helping shape some of electronic music's most recognisable names.
In a statement shared on Instagram today, Sama' Abdulhadi said, “I just really don't know what to write to express how I'm feeling. Leticia was one of the most beautiful souls in this world. She wasn't just my manager, she was my friend, my support and my family. We have been through a lot in the past seven years. I really can't imagine life without her. Everything in life reminds me of her. Even the way I prep for a gig reminds me of her. She was always there for everyone. It's so sad you had to go so soon, my love. Rest in peace and power, my love. I am going to miss you a lot. You will always live in my heart, and in the music. Thank you for everything and for always being by my side."
Paying tribute via Instagram, International Music Summit said, “The IMS team is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of artist manager Leticia van Riel, a much-loved and respected friend of the summit.
Leticia was a force within the electronic music industry: passionate, determined, and deeply committed to supporting the people around her. As a manager with her own LvR Management company she helped shape the careers of her artists with care, belief and dedication.”
One of Leticia’s most meaningful contributions to our community was the LvR Mentoring programme she created and championed. She worked tirelessly to open doors for others, share knowledge, build confidence and create opportunities for those finding their way in the industry. Her commitment to helping others grow was a true reflection of who she was.”
Leticia’s warmth, energy and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be greatly missed by the IMS team and the wider music community.”
IMS co-founder Ben Turner added, "Leticia was one of the most positive and effective people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with in this industry. We are all trying to come to terms with it whilst supporting her family as best possible."
