Little Pink Book and Mixmag MENA collaborate to showcase regional female talent
The first act in Spotlight Series goes live on March 8, International Women's Day
Little Pink Book, a women in music network and female empowerment platform founded by Roberta Hickey (pictured), is partnering with Mixmag MENA to launch a DJ mix series focused on regional female artists.
Showcasing the most exciting upcoming female talent and offering resources for those looking to break into the industry, Little Pink Book has curated events for Adidas, MTV, Skiddle, War Child, Mixcloud, Pioneer DJ as well as infamous London venues The Ned, The Hospital Club & The Curtain. Additionally, the platform hosts its own events, DJ workshops, and career guidance sessions to increase confidence for women at all career levels.
Launched in London in 2019, Little Pink Book recently expanded into the UAE in autumn 2022 with an event at Pekoe, Alserkal Avenue.
This year, the platform is focusing on building the LPB directory, a worldwide platform and community featuring female identifying and non-binary producers, DJs, and vocalists accessible by A&R's and promoters to help strive towards equality in the industry. Roberta Hickey, the founder of LPB, has over 10 years of music industry experience and is currently the Head of Talent at MAC Global in Dubai. She believes that the path to equality lies in education of the younger generation and providing the resources and mentors they need to access their desired careers. Hickey was named as a BBC Expert Women for the music industry and has hosted many discussions and been a speaker herself at conferences, universities, and on the radio, speaking about women empowerment, mental health, and careers guidance.
Roberta founded Little Pink Book in 2019 to provide a positive platform that shines a light on amazing women and in turn create role models for young ladies wanting to follow in their footsteps, believing that the path to equality lies in education of the younger generation and providing the resources & mentors they need to access their desired careers.
Roberta has over 10 years of music industry experience including working at some of the world's most influential companies from MTV to Meta and currently is Head of Talent at MAC Global in Dubai. She is passionate about passing on her experiences and inspiring other women to follow their dreams. Roberta was named as a BBC Expert Women for the music industry and has hosted many discussions as well being a speaker herself at conferences, universities and on radio, speaking about all things women empowerment, mental health and careers guidance. Most recently, she spoke on the 'Female Representation Is a Mission For Us All' panel at XP Music Futures in Saudi Arabia.
