Lou Nour retires her SICARIA alias
After years at the forefront of 140 and dubstep, she steps forward under her own name
SICARIA, a London native of Moroccan heritage, has announced that she is bringing her long-running project to a close and will now perform under her given name, Lou Nour.
The announcement was shared via Instagram, where the artist reflected on the journey of the alias and signalled a shift into a new phase. "I'm deeply grateful for what SICARIA, formerly Sicaria Sound, was and for every single one of you who made it what it became. Thank you for being here, in whatever way you choose to be here. I'll see you on the other side. In this new chapter, I'm committed to choosing a pace that feels sustainable and intentional rather than relentless. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I'm finally returning home to myself; less concerned with momentum and more interested in alignment, longevity, and creative freedom. I’m no longer building a traditional 'artist brand' and instead, I’m showing up to the world as myself.”
The artist first came to prominence as one half of Sicaria Sound alongside Sancha Ndeko, before the duo went their separate ways in 2021 due to health and wellbeing considerations. Both artists returned with solo projects that carried forward elements of their shared sonic language, with Nour retaining the SICARIA name as a continuation of the project’s ethos, reframed through a more personal perspective. As SICARIA, she became a key proponent of 140 and dubstep, taking the sound from Miami to Tbilisi while sharing line-ups with both established figures and emerging names.
In parallel, she steered Cutcross Recordings, the London imprint she co-founded in 2020, releasing music from artists including LCY, Ehua and Conzi before the label became inactive in 2025. Shaped in part by SWANA influences and her Moroccan heritage, her sets have been defined by weighty low-end pressure and a raw-edged interplay between UK dubstep and grime.
