lylla shares ‘FUGITIVE’ video shot in Moroccan desert
The video features Farsi subtitles and carries strong Arabian driftcore and Tumblr-era aesthetics
London-born Persian DJ and vocalist lylla (Leila Collins) has released the official video for her latest single ‘FUGITIVE’.
‘FUGITIVE’ follows her debut single ‘BABYCHAM’, which was co-produced by Alice Bandsz, also known as Angel Hunt. Sonically, the track builds on lylla’s emerging blend of experimental pop and club-informed textures, while the visual language expands her world-building further.
In her statement to Mixmag MENA, she said she wanted to honour her Persian heritage and the MENA region more broadly, explaining that the video features Farsi subtitles throughout as a deliberate reversal of what she described as typically Western-facing visual agendas.
The video was shot in the Moroccan desert and centres Arabian driftcore and Tumblr-era aesthetics.
‘FUGITIVE’ was co-produced by Alice Bandsz, with the accompanying video shot, directed and edited by Tommy Impey.
