M83 to perform at Dubai Opera in June
Anthony Gonzalez promises unforgettable electronic night at Dubai Opera on June 15
French electronic music group M83 have announced a much-anticipated live performance at Dubai Opera on June 15, Thursday.
The Grammy-nominated band will take the stage to deliver a memorable and electrifying experience, featuring some of their most iconic tracks such as ‘Midnight City’, ‘Wait’ and ‘Reunion’ in a way that only they can.
M83 is the brainchild of French artist and multi-instrumentalist Anthony Gonzalez. A former football player who turned to music after a leg injury, Gonzalez founded the band My Violent Wish with his friend Nicolas Fromageau, which eventually led to the creation of M83 after they signed with Gooom Records and recorded their first demo album.
Their second album, ‘Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghost’, released in 2003, marked a turning point in the French music scene. M83's unique blend of synth-pop melodies and shoegaze sounds earned them critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase. Their ability to transform seemingly cheap synthesizers into instruments that evoke nostalgia and emotion is unparalleled.
As the sole constant member of M83, Gonzalez has produced core albums for the band and supported acts such as Kings of Leon, The Killers, and Depeche Mode on tour. The band's platinum-selling album 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming' propelled them to worldwide success, leading to sold-out tours at the Hollywood Bowl and Brixton Academy.
M83's music has influenced generations of artists and been featured in major films such as Oblivion starring Tom Cruise and Black Heaven by Gilles Marchand. Their music has served as a backdrop for both life's most triumphant moments and its most crushing defeats.
Lead vocalist Anthony Gonzalez expressed his excitement about the upcoming show, saying, “I’m thrilled to be taking the stage in Dubai this summer. It's been a long time coming, and I have no doubt that this performance will be evocative, memorable, and, most of all, fun. I'm really looking forward to seeing our fans in the region and hope to do their support of my music justice.”
M83 are also to release their new album ‘Fantasy’ on March 17. You can check out the album below and grab your tickets here.
