Mera Bhai releases first single from forthcoming EP

London-based DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Mera Bhai (Karthik Poduval) has released the first single, ‘Friday Night’, from his upcoming EP, titled ‘Now I Need You’.

Known for his globally influenced sonic palette, Mera Bhai continues to draw from a rich personal and musical journey. A founding member of the psychedelic band Flamingods, active since 2010, Poduval began his musical training early on, learning piano, violin and drums before shifting his focus to production and DJing.

His solo work under the Mera Bhai moniker launched with the ‘Futureproofing’ EP in 2020 via Moshi Moshi Records and has since evolved through a series of well-received releases, including ‘Relax Into Yourself’, ‘A Phool In Love’, ‘Somethin’ On Your Mind’ and ‘Work Ain’t Nuthin’ earlier this year.

Shaped by an upbringing that spans Saudi Arabia and the UAE, alongside a few other countries, his music reflects a hybrid of cultural references. His sound blends Indian Carnatic and Brazilian tropicalia with disco, Detroit techno and 90s acid house; a genre-melding approach that continues to characterise his releases.

Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Mera Bhai commented: “So glad this one’s out in the world, it’s a sound I’ve been working towards, so I hope you guys dig. Disco meets Speed Garage, what’s not to love?”

With ‘Friday Night’, Mera Bhai sets the tone for his forthcoming EP, promising a continuation of his borderless, rhythm-forward explorations.
