New d'n'b compilation ‘FLOODLIGHT’ is fundraising for people affected by Pakistan floods

Drum ‘n bass DJs IYRE and pyxis have curated a new compilation album, which is fundraising towards helping those affected by the flooding in Pakistan.

One-third of Pakistan is currently underwater after a torrential monsoon season which has seen hundreds of thousands of homes damaged or destroyed, displacing more than 33 million people and causing an estimated $30 billion of reconstruction costs and economic damage.

The Bandcamp exclusive album will donate all proceeds to charities that support Pakistan with humanitarian relief supplies, including emergency food, drinking water, sanitary equipment, portable shelters, bedding, hygiene supplies and kitchen sets.

The compilation album has been created in just four weeks and includes over 80 tracks.

Features on the album include London Elektricity, Etherwood, Dom & Roland, Digital, Outrage, Trex, Rafiki Dubs, NC-17, Low:r, Alpha Rhythm, HLZ, Hologram, Humanature and many more.

The press release notes statistics relating to the tragedy, including that: "1,569 people died, including 555 children, and an additional 12,860 were injured. 546,288 people are living in temporary camps because of the floods."

IYRE tells us: "We as the drum and bass community saw this as an opportunity to help in our own way, which is through music."

“This compilation is pretty special,” IYRE writes on Instagram adding: “A beautiful representation of music, and how far genres such as drum and bass have reached across the globe. Incredibly proud of the representation this compilation comprises.

"It's a rare occurrence to see South Asian/Asian labels meeting together with the renowned labels from the UK and USA. In that sense, I call this a truly legendary compilation and I'm super grateful of the entire community for standing with us.”

‘FLOODLIGHT’ is available via Bandcamp, costing £10 with the option to donate more, which is encouraged. Get it here.
