Rabanne and Miraval Studios launch remix competition for disco classic ‘Listen To The Music’

Rabanne and Miraval Studios are calling on music producers to put their own spin on Judy Carter’s 1983 disco-boogie classic ‘Listen to the Music’.

Participants are encouraged to rework the track, originally released on Paco Rabanne Records and recently remastered, using freely provided stems, including vocals, drums, bass and instrumentals. The remixes must be shared on TikTok by August 29, using the hashtag #RabanneRemix and tagging @rabanne.

The winners will receive an exclusive invitation to the world-renowned Miraval Studios in France. Guided by Grammy Award-winning producer and studio co-founder Damien Quintard, the selected remixers will have the chance to refine their musical vision alongside leading sound experts. The studio has long been recognised as a creative hub, having hosted legendary acts such as Pink Floyd, Sade and Kendrick Lamar.

With support from TuneCore, the project offers independent talent the freedom to push their creative boundaries. Originally born from Rabanne’s 1980s foray into Black French, Caribbean and African music production, ‘Listen to the Music’ is being revived through this remix contest as a vibrant symbol of artistic continuity, bridging eras, genres and disciplines. Disco-boogie is generally considered a sub-genre that bridges late ’70s disco and early ’80s boogie/funk.

You can listen to the newly remastered version of ‘Listen to the Music’ below and find full details on how to enter the competition here.
