Rehab Hazgui, Kareem Lofty and Hadj Sameer feature on new 99CHANTS compilation
‘IMAGINARY LANDSCAPES’ includes 13 tracks
Italy-based record label 99CHANTS has unveiled a colossal new compilation, inspired by Plato’s concept of movement “Nothing ever is, everything is becoming”.
The imprint invited artists around the globe to create an imaginary landscape and to figure out “what tomorrow sounds like”. Music producers from the MENA region include Rehab Hazgui, Kareem Lofty and Hadj Sameer. They are joined by the likes of KMRU, Yu Su, Aşa, Delawhere, Liila, Dave Saved, Sera Berts, Biophony, Madrā and Aria Rostami.
The world of ‘IMAGINARY LANDSCAPES’ is somewhere between ambient and electronica, cinematic yet meditative. All proceeds will go to the non-profit organisation ONETREEPLANTED. Founded in 2014, the organisation works with partners around the globe to plant trees in areas affected by deforestation. With 10 million trees planted as of 2020, biodiversity has been stimulated, jobs have been created, and while multinational conglomerates and energy companies produce the vast majority of global CO2 emissions, areas destroyed in the name of profit can once again flourish with life.
According to the statement by 99CHANTS, the donations will help restore mangroves in India, Khulna District, Khulna Division. Mangroves have the ability to support their adjacent community by protecting coastal lives from cyclones and also providing livelihood opportunities, and are the front-line defender against storm surges, flooding, and cyclones for the coastal community.
The compilation is available on digital and vinyl formats. Check it out here.
