Yousef Kekhia gets contemplative on latest single
‘Daw-Zalam’ is about “heartbreak, the taste of it, and also the peace and the love of dealing with it”
Aleppo-hailing now Berlin-based producer, singer and songwriter Yousef Kekhia has released a new single, entitled ‘Daw-Zalam’.
Yousef Kekhia's fusion of contemporary folk and electronic music with Arabic lyrics creates a unique way of telling personal stories that are both powerful and emotive. As a new example of this way of expression of the self’s inner world, ‘Daw-Zalam’ is about “heartbreak, the taste of it, and also the peace and the love of dealing with it,” according to the artist’s statement on his Instagram account.
Yousef Kekhia first debuted in 2018 with a stand-alone single ‘Hal Ard Lamin?’. This has been followed by two LPs, ‘Monologue’ and ‘Polylog’, alongside few other solo singles the likes of ‘Insan’ and ‘Rabeh’.
