1001Tracklists outlines global dance music trends in new annual report
The report maps MENA-related activity involving Tiësto, Aly & Fila, R3HAB and Future Sound of Egypt, alongside contributor data from the United Arab Emirates
1001Tracklists has shared its 2025 A State of Dance Music report, offering a data-led snapshot of the artists, tracks, labels, live performances and contributors shaping electronic music worldwide.
In 2025, more than 8.3 million users engaged with 1001Tracklists, generating nearly 79 million pageviews across the year. From a musical perspective, tech house emerged as the most dominant genre in DJ sets, accounting for 19.8% of the Top 1,000 tracks, followed by melodic house & techno at 15.6%, dance at 12.3%, house at 11.8%, and trance at 10.2%, with Afro / Deep representing 3.9% and techno accounting for 3.3%, reflecting a broad but club-focused spectrum shaping contemporary dancefloors.
1001Tracklists’ report preface reads: “Over the past year, creativity has accelerated across both the underground and mainstream, with exciting momentum and rapidly growing scenes behind deep tech & minimal, hard techno, melodic techno, neo-rave, a renewed love for trance, and hybrid live-electronic performances. New tools and faster release cycles have empowered more artists to share their music, helping local scenes break through to international audiences with unprecedented speed.
"At the same time, DJs are embracing longer, more expressive sets and fearless genre-blending, reflecting a community that values depth, discovery, and shared moments. This has resulted in a year defined not by one dominant sound, but by a thriving ecosystem of styles and passionate contributors.”
The 2025 State of Dance Music data shows a limited but clearly traceable MENA presence within 1001Tracklists’ most-viewed ecosystem. Tiësto’s PRISMATIC performance at The Great Pyramids of Giza on 19 December 2025 is listed in the Top 100 Tracklists, ranking at #29. This makes it the only Middle East or North Africa-located event to appear anywhere in the Top 100 tracklists ranking for the year.
Egyptian trance duo Aly & Fila feature in the 2025 dataset via their appearance at A State Of Trance Festival on 21 February 2025 at Ahoy Rotterdam, Netherlands. The performance is listed in the Top 100 Tracklists at #87, placing the Cairo-born act among the year’s most-viewed sets despite taking place outside the region.
Beyond live performances, MENA influence is also reflected in producer and label rankings. Moroccan-Dutch artist R3HAB is ranked #64 in the Top 101 Producers of 2025. At label level, Egypt-based Future Sound of Egypt ranks #20 in the Top 30 Labels list and also features among the Top 50 Radio Shows, where it is ranked #35.
Also, the United Arab Emirates ranks #15 in the Top ID Countries by New Tracks Added, a metric that tracks where newly identified and uploaded tracks originate based on contributor activity. With 29,349 tracks added during the year, the ranking indicates a visible level of participation from UAE-based users within the platform’s global music-discovery ecosystem.
