‘Demon In The Mirror’ sees Ayk bridge hip-hop and electronic sounds

Iranian artist and producer Ayk has dropped his latest outing ‘Demon In The Mirror’, a three-track release that brings together underground hip-hop influences with a set of experimental electronic remixes.

The release centres on a stripped-back yet atmospheric take on hip-hop, pairing introspective lyricism with textured production. Alongside the original cut, the package includes remixes from Som.1 and Trash Cells.

Across the remixes, Som.1 introduces a breakbeat-led framework, while Trash Cells leans into heavier textures, incorporating distorted elements and guitar-driven layers.

Support has already emerged across a range of DJs and radio figures. Charlotte de Witte, DJ Harvey, James Lavelle and John Kennedy have backed the release, while the Som.1 remix has been picked up by Tom Ravenscroft and Don Letts. The Trash Cells version has also drawn attention from Laurent Garnier.

Ayk, who hails from Iran’s Gilan province, is part of the Twilight Marauders collective and has been developing his sound over the past five years. ‘Demon In The Mirror’ marks his debut release on R&S Records.
