Demir Yurdabayrak, the producer and live act behind CEAUS, has introduced Epoch, his new alias, through debut collaboration ‘CRANK’ with Belgian producer Lektrique.

The launch marks a new creative chapter for Yurdabayrak, with Epoch returning to the brostep and bass-driven sounds that first inspired the artist to begin producing music. ‘CRANK’, a collaboration with Lektrique, serves as the project's inaugural release through Kannibalen Records.

According to Yurdabayrak, Epoch represents a return to the music that shaped his early years as a producer while allowing him to explore a different creative direction alongside his ongoing work as CEAUS. The project's early momentum has already led to further releases, including an upcoming release on Deadbeats scheduled for October.

Speaking to Mixmag MENA about the launch of Epoch, the Istanbul artist said: “Epoch’s sound is, in many ways, the sound that first made me fall in love with music production. Back in 2015–2016, when I was around 12 years old, I discovered Skrillex and became obsessed with understanding how those records were made. Coming from a musical background, I started combining my musical education with production, and since Skrillex was—and still is—one of my biggest inspirations, I naturally gravitated toward brostep and bass music.

The response to Epoch has been incredibly encouraging so far. The project has already secured releases with bass music powerhouses such as Deadbeats, with a release scheduled for October, and made its debut on Kannibalen Records with 'CRANK' alongside Lektrique. Seeing a project so closely connected to my original inspirations resonate with labels I grew up admiring has been especially meaningful.”

Over time, my sound evolved through house music and eventually into what people know today as CEAUS. I’m incredibly proud of that journey and I’m still passionate about pushing CEAUS forward and exploring new creative directions through it. Epoch, however, is what I consider a return to my roots—a project that reconnects me with the music that inspired me to start producing in the first place. It’s a new name, but the same mission: creating music that excites me and sparks the same sense of wonder I felt when I first discovered electronic music.”

‘CRANK’ is available now across major digital streaming platforms.
