Subb-an unveils latest Sub Series release with ‘Unknown Pleasures’ EP

Subb-an has unveiled the latest instalment of his Sub Series with a new four-track EP, ‘Unknown Pleasures’.

Continuing the next chapter of the Sub Series, the four-track EP sees Subb-an further explore his blend of groove-led house and hypnotic techno. Alongside low-slung basslines and rolling percussion, the release moves comfortably between club-ready cuts and more restrained, atmospheric moments.

The EP features three solo productions by Subb-an, alongside ‘Sinking Deeper’, a collaboration with vocalist Isis Salam, formerly one half of electro-rap duo Thunderheist, who reintroduced herself as a solo artist in 2023.

Built around a deeper blend of house and techno, the EP reflects producer and DJ Ashique Subhan’s continued evolution as Subb-an, with his South Asian heritage remaining an important part of his wider artistic identity.

Reflecting on the EP in a release note, Subb-an commented: “I’ve been excited to reconnect and collaborate with old friend Isis Salam on ‘Sinking Deeper’, a project inspired by late-night open-air festivals in the woods and dark warehouse spaces. ‘Future Textures’ was written shortly after my last Panorama Bar set, while ‘Dub Attraction’ and ‘Unknown Pleasures’ came from a desire to explore a deeper blend of house and techno. Hope you enjoy it.”

‘Unknown Pleasures’ adds to an already busy release schedule for Subb-an, who has also shared ‘Rm12042’, ‘Touch Me’, ‘Sunchaser’, ‘Circular Motion’ and ‘Grooves & Tools’ this year.

‘Unknown Pleasures’ is out now digitally and on vinyl. Listen to the EP below and find out more here.
