DJ Reza, influential Los Angeles rave scene pioneer, has passed away

DJ Reza, the pioneering Southern California rave promoter and founder of Go Ventures, has died at the age of 51.

Reza Gerami, better known in the electronic dance music world as DJ Reza, passed away unexpectedly in Los Angeles earlier this month, with news of his death emerging on 8 March 2026. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed, though family statements have described it as sudden, noting that “our beloved Reza’s heart stopped beating and he is gone”.

Reza Gerami, who was born into an Iranian family that fled the 1979 Islamic Revolution and resettled in Southern California, helped shape the Los Angeles rave culture from the late 1990s into the 2000s. Through Go Ventures, he brought iconic events such as Monster Massive, Together As One, and The Love Festival to life, helping transition the SoCal dance community towards licensed, large-scale productions in an era before the mainstream commercialisation of EDM.

Beyond promotion, he remained an active DJ, known for eclectic, high-energy sets that spanned funky house, electro, breaks, and more, earning him a reputation as a genuine “party rocker” behind the decks. He also founded the long-running Saturday Night Sessions label and event series, championing underground sounds throughout his career.
