Does It Matter delivers emotion-led melodic house on ‘Don’t Give Up On Us’

Does It Matter has released his latest single, ‘Don’t Give Up On Us’, through Paris-based label Get The Sound.

Does It Matter, the moniker of John Frederick Walker, approaches ‘Don’t Give Up On Us’ as a warm, slow-burning piece of melodic house, balancing understated club propulsion with a quietly emotional edge. Its opening is spacious and restrained, pairing a steady four-to-the-floor pulse with crisp percussion and soft, recurring chord figures. A rounded bassline gradually adds weight beneath the arrangement, while shimmering synth layers and an ascending arpeggio introduce a sense of forward motion without disturbing the track’s measured pace. Rather than relying on an oversized drop, the production builds through subtle shifts in texture, density and harmonic tension, eventually reaching a luminous, gently euphoric peak.

Released early this month, the single follows ‘How Does It Feel’, which arrived in February, and ‘Cold’, which followed in July.

‘Don’t Give Up on Us’ also continues a catalogue shaped by collaborations and compact, song-led electronic productions. In July 2024, the artist released his debut album, ‘Second Hand Love’, alongside Francis Skyes. The 12-track record includes listener favourites ‘Alone’, ‘Lose Your Love’, ‘Everlong’, ‘Better Now’ and ‘Dark’, among others.
