Funkky delivers message of change and limitless potential on latest single, ‘Urban Science Substance’

Funkky has released his latest single, ‘Urban Science Substance’, a track that explores themes of transformation, empowerment and personal growth.

Featuring vocals from Michael Afolayan and blending reflective lyrics with a dynamic production, the release carries a message encouraging listeners to embrace change and push beyond their perceived limits, both individually and collectively.

Rooted in the rich musical heritage of the Middle Atlas region of Morocco, Funkky has long drawn inspiration from the diverse rhythms and traditions of his upbringing. Since making his debut in 2020, he has been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of genre, blending North African influences with modern electronic sounds. His reinterpretation of Tuareg guitar-driven styles, alongside collaborations with respected labels like Foliage Records —where his music attracted remixes from the likes of Jimpster and Eric Kupper— has earned him growing recognition in the scene.

Alongside his solo work, Funkky remains committed to collaboration and cultural exchange. As a co-founder of the Orishas Collective, he continues to champion Afro house as a vehicle for creativity and connection. His recent remix of ‘Fight’ by Omary, Yadee and Martine Labbé reflects his versatility as a producer, while upcoming projects, including the collaborative single ‘Shwele’ with 84 Avenue set for release on April 25, highlight his ongoing creative direction.

‘Urban Science Substance’ stands as a collaborative effort between Funkky and Michael Afolayan, offering a sound that aims to resonate with listeners seeking motivation and progress in their personal journeys. Listen to it below.
