Boys’ Shorts remix Hot Chip song ‘Devotion’ from upcoming anthology album

Boys’ Shorts, comprising Greek-Jordanian DJ/producer Tarek Souleiman and Athens-based artist Vangelis Related, have remixed English synth-pop band Hot Chip’s song titled ‘Devotion’.

Emerging from London’s fertile early-2000s electro-indie scene, Hot Chip, comprised of Alexis Taylor, Joe Goddard, Al Doyle, Owen Clarke and Felix Martin, bridged academic experimentalism and dancefloor energy. Their debut album ‘Coming on Strong’ (2004) established their aesthetic; by ‘The Warning’ (2006), the band had achieved breakthrough success and a Mercury Prize nomination. Over seven studio albums, they evolved into acclaimed architects of synth-pop, melding house, disco and introspective songwriting.

Their upcoming anthology, ‘Joy In Repetition’, distills more than two decades of their creative journey. Spanning tracks from their early years like ‘Ready For The Floor’, ‘I Feel Better’ and ‘Flutes’, up to their latest work, the compilation stitches together their signature blend of melancholic reflection and ecstatic rhythm. Filled with fan favourites and deeper cuts, the full tracklist features last month’s new song ‘Devotion’, now reimagined in a fresh remix by Boys’ Shorts.

In an Instagram post, the duo Boys’ Shorts wrote: “Trying to put into words what it feels like to remix Hot Chip is almost impossible. They’ve been one of our favourite bands from day one! We’ve collected their records, followed them to shows in different cities, and been inspired by them for years. Nothing compares to working with artists you truly love. That moment you get their track’s stems in front of you, and they ask you to reimagine it… pure magic.

We were just two boys from school when we first heard them, and years later, we were lucky enough to open for them at the Knockdown Center in NYC, knees trembling and hearts racing.”

And now… here we are, remixing their new track ‘Devotion’. Same heartbeat, same excitement, but with even more gratitude. Thank you, Hot Chip, over and over and over.”
