Yerevan label LEZVANI explores Detroit’s sonic blueprint on new VA
‘LEZVANI DANCEFORCES III’ compiles new material from Hopdop, Nrth1, Yhii, thanakí and Your friend daao
Yerevan-based record label LEZVANI has released a new various artists compilation, tracing the enduring blueprint of Detroit’s electronic music legacy through a contemporary lens. Rooted in the sonic language pioneered by figures such as the Belleville Three, the project revisits the foundations of electro and techno while positioning them within an evolving global context.
Featuring a curated selection of artists from Yerevan, the release reflects how Detroit’s original signal has continued to mutate and resonate across geographies.
Across five tracks, the compilation navigates a spectrum of textures and emotional states. Hopdop’s ‘How Dare You?’ opens with fractured mechanical rhythms and dystopian tonalities, evoking a futuristic landscape shaped by instability and motion. Nrth1’s ‘Naked Dance’ follows with a more immersive, introspective energy, driven by pulsing low-end and a sense of emotional suspension. On ‘Confining’, Yhii explores the tension between movement and stillness, layering static basslines with expansive atmospheres that stretch time and perception.
thanakí’s ‘ur inner g’ shifts the focus toward collective experience, blending percussive elements into a unified, almost ritualistic flow that emphasises connection over individualism. Closing the release, Your friend daao’s ‘From The Heart’ incorporates vocal elements into its sound design, creating a fluid and evolving structure where melodic fragments continuously reshape the track’s direction.
The label was founded by Armenian artist teádor monk. The word ‘lézvání’ translates from Armenian as ‘talkative’, reflecting the idea that "the label itself has a lot of topics to cover".
