Liliane Chlela, one of the impressive figures in Lebanon’s independent electronic music scene, has returned with a new album, “Anatomy of a Jerk”.

Released on Mexico City’s Infinite Machine, this latest offering showcases Chlela’s masterful approach to sonic storytelling, blending experimental compositional techniques with her signature auditory soundscapes.

“Anatomy of a Jerk” delves deep into the manipulation of sound, where Chlela warps manic synth patterns into percussive motifs that abruptly cut in and out of melodic interludes. The album's eight tracks take listeners on a meticulous journey, where compositions start, stop and fold into themselves, inviting deep contemplation of the sonic anatomies that the artist constructs.

It’s an album that masterfully sets the tone with a striking blend of high-intensity rhythms and fleeting, elusive melodies. The record defies conventional structure, pushing the boundaries of electronic music with its haunting strings and synth-pad harmonies that hover above mechanical percussion, creating a constant atmosphere of unpredictability. She skillfully intertwines dramatic string progressions and theatrical drums to offer moments of cinematic depth, balancing the intensity of her compositions with evocative, more reflective soundscapes. Each track challenges the listener to navigate its intricacies, ultimately crafting an experience that is as unpredictable as it is compelling.

Liliane Chlela, born in Beirut and now based in Montreal, has established a meaningful connection to both the North American and Lebanese music scenes. Her work warrants attentive listening, as it consistently carries a clear message, with a sound that, while robust, remains fluid and maintains its momentum without hesitation.

The album follows on from the artist's standalone single titled “Jurk”. Listen to her latest album below.
