Moving Still traces a path ‘Close to the Shams’ with new EP

Jeddah-born, Dublin-based DJ/producer Moving Still has released a new EP, ‘Close to the Shams’, on Bordello A Parigi.

The four-track offering showcases the producer’s knack for blending diverse influences into a cohesive sound, drawing listeners in from the first beat.

The EP kicks off with ‘Zaman’, where steady, pulsating percussion drives a mix of piano flourishes and sharp brass accents. A subtle SWANA-inspired thread runs through the track, enriched by crisp snare rolls that inject pace and a hint of grit. It’s a lively opener that sets the tone for Moving Still’s wide-ranging approach.

Next up, ‘Bang of Luban’ dials down the tempo but keeps the momentum. Reinforced beats underpin squirming acid lines, adding a tactile edge, while the melody shifts between traditional motifs and house-leaning reinterpretations.

Flipping to the B-side, the title track ‘Close to the Shams’ steps up with a bolder presence. Kicks fracture into broken beats, paired with mizmar notes that weave through the arrangement with a fluid, almost bird-like grace.

Rounding out the release is “Sunday Rollover (Suntop Mix),” a laid-back closer that eases off the throttle. A relaxed rhythm lays the foundation for mellow lounge tones, creating a dreamy, unhurried vibe.

Moving Still’s new four-track EP follows on from his earlier 2025 outing, ‘Neon Hub’, which featured on the 4th volume of the ‘Musique de Fête’ compilation series on Nowadays Records.

The artist threw a celebration party at Fidelity Dublin and shared his excitement with the words on an Instagram post: “Big thanks to everyone who made it! And a shoutout to everyone who sent me videos”. He also urged his followers to “stay tuned” for a major announcement set to drop this Friday.

The EP is available digitally and on vinyl. Listen to the tracks below and order your vinyl copy here.
