Mustafa Ismaeel debuts on Marginalia with ‘Hold Forever’ remix
Mustafa Ismaeel has also contributed a remix to ‘Ahista’, the new collaborative EP from Lost Boy and Daniyal Shah on his own label Narratives
Mustafa Ismaeel has joined the remix package for ELIF’s Marginalia imprint, contributing a new interpretation of 'Hold Forever' from the label’s debut album, 'Save Me' by Liminal MX.
The remix package expands on 'Save Me', the inaugural full-length release on Marginalia, bringing together a diverse cast of producers to reinterpret tracks from the record. The label founder ELIF delivers a remix of 'Fast Line', while Predex reworks 'Complicated'. Elsewhere, Mehill takes on the title track 'Save Me', derderwandert revisits 'With Me', Fur Coat remixes 'Remember', and JAMIIE puts a fresh spin on 'Feel Me'.
Drawing on his Iraqi heritage and formative years in Canada, Mustafa Ismaeel has developed a sound shaped by multicultural influences, combining infectious grooves with emotionally driven production. His contribution to the release also marks his debut on Marginalia.
Speaking to Mixmag MENA about the project, Mustafa Ismaeel said: “I wanted to take the deep, melancholic beauty of 'Hold Forever' and inject it with a heavy dose of groove. Balancing that intense emotion with a high-energy flow was a fun challenge, creating a really cool tension between mystery and movement. This was a very inspiring project to work on, and I'm happy to make my debut on Marginalia with this remix.”
Mustafa Ismaeel's recent remix output extends beyond 'Hold Forever'. The producer also lends his touch to 'Ahista', the new EP from Lost Boy and Daniyal Shah on his own label Narratives, where his closing remix reimagines the title track with driving grooves while retaining its emotional character.
