Palestinian platform Zilzal spotlights female talent on its Black Rhino Radio showcase
Zilzal has also an upcoming show at Le Guess Who Festival in Utrecht this November
Palestinian music platform Zilzal is to showcase female talent with a new programme on the Bucharest-based Black Rhino Radio on September 30, Saturday.
7 female artists; Nour Sokhon, BMY, serahboo.m, Sainte Marina, Кɨяа, Miramizu and howl are being featured on Zilzal’s Saturday showcase on Black Rhino Radio.
Founded by Ali Taqi aka 00970, Zilzal aims to amplify sounds from the MENA region. As a nascent independent platform, it is designed to create an intimate, unique and memorable experience for artists and audience alike, and create an accessible space where artists have the opportunity to share their sound across borders. Based between Palestine, Berlin and Barcelona, the Zilzal team aims to build bridges with other geographies with a focus on the MENA region, introducing audiences to more diverse sound identities.
The platform recently showcased another 6 female artists from the MENA region on September 23. Also, they have an upcoming show at Le Guess Who Festival in Utrecht on November 11-12 this year.
Zilzal, a burgeoning music platform, recently made waves in the music industry by hosting a staggering 21-hour continuous online music festival. This marathon musical event featured a diverse lineup of 21 artists, each bringing a distinct sound and charisma from the MENA region and even further afield. This ambitious venture was a collaborative effort with the Tunisian Radio Flouka, based in Paris.
Not limiting themselves to the virtual realm, Zilzal has also initiated physical events across major European cities such as Barcelona, Berlin, and Den Haag. These events weren't just about the music; they integrated elements of fashion by showcasing designers from the Middle East and South America. In addition, local photographers have been given a platform to display their artistry alongside Zilzal's signature sound and DJ sets, including notable contributions from Palestinian DJs.
Furthermore, Zilzal has secured a monthly residency with Radio Alhara. This collaboration serves as a beacon for them to magnify the reach of artists and project their unique sounds to an even broader audience.
