Saint Abdullah and Eomac release fifth collaborative album ‘When The Sandbox Has No Edge’

Saint Abdullah and Eomac have released their fifth collaborative album, ‘When The Sandbox Has No Edge’.

The 17-track record is rooted in hip hop and shaped by poetry, sampling and experimental composition, following the pair’s previous albums ‘Patience of a Traitor’, ‘Chasing Stateless’, ‘Light Meteors Crashing Around You Will Not Confuse You’ and ‘Of No Fixed Abode’.

Much of its source material was created across 2024 and 2025, after Saint Abdullah’s Mohammad Mehrabani moved to London and began working more closely with Irish producer and composer Eomac, aka Ian McDonnell. Mehrabani built early sketches using two Roland SP-404 samplers and sound designs from Seraphim before sending the material to McDonnell in Wicklow, where the fragments were developed into complete arrangements.

The album features contributions from Abbas Zahedi, Richie Culver and Armand Hammer on vocals and poetry, alongside cellist Lester St. Louis and 75 Dollar Bill guitarist Che Chen. Its palette also incorporates samples gathered from charity shops and market stalls during journeys across the UK, with the pair using the material as a basis for compositions that move between hip hop, abstraction and more experimental forms.

Artwork for ‘When The Sandbox Has No Edge’ comes from Iranian-born artist and architect Elham Goodarzi, whose practice involves reworking archival photographs of Middle Eastern architecture. Drawing on images of Iran, Syria, Iraq and Palestine dating back as far as 1915, Goodarzi layers and rearranges the original structures into imagined architectural forms.

The album is out now digitally and on vinyl. Listen to it in full below.
