Moroccan DJ/producer Tony Kay has unveiled his latest single, ‘Fes’, released via Gas Records.
Following the success of his debut EP ‘Tirra’ which showcased his signature blend of intricate percussion and emotive melodies, ‘Fes’ unpacks more of the artist’s heritage, offering a captivating sonic tribute to the ancient city of Fes that inspired its creation.
With ‘Fes’, Tony Kay integrates traditional Moroccan vocals into his distinctive tech house sound, creating a compelling homage to the city’s cultural and historical significance. Drawing from the rhythms and sounds of his homeland, the track blends powerful vocals with driving beats and lush, atmospheric synths, resulting in a fusion of the ancient and the contemporary.
The single captures the spirit of Fes, a city in northern inland Morocco, known for its rich history, art and music. The city, often referred to as the "Mecca of the West" and the "Athens of Africa," is widely regarded as Morocco's spiritual and cultural capital. Through evocative production, Tony Kay translates its essence into a vibrant and dynamic dance anthem.
This release follows an impressive 2024 for Tony Kay, marked by the release of ‘Tirra’ and standout tracks like ‘Thinking’, ‘Yeah!’ and his ‘Small Town Boy’ (Techno Remix) collaboration with Luca Testa. ‘Fes’ marks another step forward in his journey, further showcasing his personal take on genre-blending sounds.
